What is in Agribusiness Management?
The philosophy of this program is to produce agribusiness leaders. The program will equip the learner with technical, commercial, financial, accountancy, and human resource management skills.
Why Study Agribusiness Management?
The Agriculture Sector is the backbone of Kenya’s economy and the source of livelihood for the majority of the rural population. The sector contributes about 30 percent of the country’s GDP and employs about 80 percent of the population. The sector is a major source of revenue with agricultural produce exports accounting for nearly two-thirds of total domestic export. Supporting this sector therefore leads to securing most livelihoods of the Kenyan people.
Despite the immense contribution of agriculture to the Kenyan economy, the sector faces several challenges ranging from competitive pricing, financing, lack of good business linkages, marketing, increasing demand for high wages, exchange rate fluctuations, political and policy issues among others. Therefore, there is a need to train managers who will competitively address these challenges.
Career prospects
The agribusiness graduates will become entrepreneurs, managers, and offer consultancy services in the rapidly evolving agribusiness world.
