EPS 3200: HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT (45 LH)            

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE

Equip learner with Concepts of human growth and development in relation to learning, Needs, and demands of developmental changes.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course unit the learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the concepts of human growth and development
  2. Identify and explain needs and demands of developmental changes.

III.       Discuss theories of learning in relation to human development.

  1. Analyze conditions necessary for healthy human growth and development

COURSE CONTENT

Historical basis of human development; basic principles and concepts of human growth and development; General : Piagets, Kohlber, Freud and Eric Erikson. General theories, definition, scope and purpose; Stages of human development significance of the study of human development to teachers; developmental aspects during the prenatal, infancy, early childhood and adolescence stages (i.e intellectual, physical, emotional, language, social intelligence and personality development). The exceptional child; adulthood and ageing.
